Abiding Presence
"Soaking" is an integral part of all my work. In fact, I would have to say my work is 80% soaking, 20% drawing. "Soaking", or "Resting in His Presence" has become a way of life - everything flows out of that time spent with Him. These are not times of prayer. They are simply times of receiving, listening. Sometimes we may feel as though it was time wasted, but this is never the case.

Abram's Sky
Then He brought him outside and said, "Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them." And He said to him, "So shall your descendants be." For a long time I have wondered what that particular night sky might have looked like to Abram. When I look at the stars in the sky at night my thoughts are of Abram and what he must have seen so long ago.

Be Still
Be still, and know that I am God. (Psalm 46:10)
There are times when all God wants us to do is rest. To stop all the doing, and simply start being. A time to consider His creation without seeking anything from Him. It was after such a period that I did this picture.

Born of the Spirit
The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the spirit. (John 3:8) The above passage of scripture (which is on the print, under the title), has long been a favorite of mine. Whenever I heard or read this my spirit would leap within me...

Breakthrough
The inspiration behind this work came to me in a vision I received depicting Gabriel's struggle with the forces of darkness and the breakthrough that followed when Michael the Archangel came to his aid. The rough draft of this work included both Gabriel and Michael and the focus was on the struggle.

Breath of Life
Along with His life giving breath, God's attributes, His DNA were imparted to man. We were created by Love, for Love. The first thing Adam saw when he opened his eyes was the face of his loving Father.

By Faith
Abraham obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. Hebrews 11:8 God's promises to Abraham were many and great, but the Lord first required that he separate himself. To set in motion God's blessings, he would have to leave his familiar ways behind. On the word of an invisible God, known only to himself, he set out into a desert toward an unknown promised land - faith in action.

Here O Lord
The Spirit of God desires to inhabit the hearts of his people, but he will not come uninvited. This work is an invitation. I believe that every man was created with a hole in his heart that only God can fill. That by design we were created to feel empty, incomplete, until that void was filled with Him. Our creator designed us to cry out to Him - Here O Lord.

Holy Ecstacy
This is a vision I received resting in His presence while listening to a musical CD. It reflects a desire, a passion to fully experience God the One who pours out of Himself into us His children. This is the place where Heaven meets us and we become one with our Father and Creator, a place of completefulfillment and ecstasy. I am indebted to JoAnn McFatter and her song "Sapphire Sea" from the CD entitled "Temple Dance" for helping me see that vision.

In His Presence
In 1995, having closed the doors of my graphic design business, I was commissioned by my church to do a logo for them. The first idea that came to me for the logo, was the Ark of the Covenant along with the two angels who sit upon it. The design work for that logo, served as a springboard, not only for this picture, but for all my work to follow.

Intercession
Behold now, I who am but dust and ashes have taken upon myself to speak to the Lord. --GENESIS 18:27
For the most part, a description of how this work came about is explained in my description of "Who Am I..", for they were both brought about by the same spirit - a pleading with God. Although both works depict different men, in very different circumstances, the underlying sentiment is shared by both.

In The Shadow Of His Wings
A friend of mine once suggested to me that the title of this work could be a great picture. I receive many such suggestions, but I can do nothing with them unless they take root in me. This suggestion did take root, and grew to where it was all consuming.

Jacob's Blessing
For a long time the Lord had been leading me to do this piece. This particular passage in the Bible, where Jacob wrestles with the angel of the Lord, is one that I believe many, perhaps all of us experience at one time in our lives. In this instance, Jacob insists " I will not let you go until you bless me".

Leap Of Faith
This picture deals with faith in action. After receiving this vision, the Lord impressed upon me the importance of exercising faith. In this picture the figure is leaping out into darkness, and the light from above, signifying God's Glory, illuminates and upholds the one who trusts in Him.

Lifted Up
Comfort My people! That is the first statement of Isaiah 40. When I started work on this piece, I had something very different in mind. My intention was to depict a dream I had a few nights previously, where I saw a figure surrounded by darkness, balanced on a blindingly bright beam of light that reached up into the heavens.

Nocturnal Visit
The impetus for this picture came one morning when my wife awoke from a deep sleep speaking in a foreign language. She did some research on the few words that she uttered that morning, and discovered that she was maybe speaking Hebrew.

On Earth As It Is In Heaven
Scripture tells us that "the Kingdom of God is within you." (Luke 17:21) I believe that as spirit filled Christians worship their Lord, this "Kingdom" begins to be released. Yes, it is true that Heaven comes down to touch His true worshipers, but it is also true that our praise touches Heaven. He fills, as we pour out. This picture is both about a touch from above and a release from within that simultaneously happens as we worship.

Servant Of The Most High
The picture before you is a direct result of prayer. The Lord gave me this vision while in prayer for a loved one whom I perceived to be in danger while traveling. In response to my pleas for protection, the Lord showed me this warrior. He told me that this angel, "Captain of many" would leave his normal heavenly duties to be with the loved one in question.

Solomon's Prayer
Solomon's prayer is complete in its scope and it reveals the heart of a man who's primary focus is on His God and the relationship of all men with their creator. Years ago Solomon's prayer took root in my being, only recently though, (November '02) did the Lord give me this vision.

Strength Found In Weakness
This work depicts what can happen when we totally rely on God to fight our battles – when we can rest in that place of total dependence on Him. Contrary to our natural instincts, letting go of our defenses gives way to a force far greater then our own.

The Baptism
And a voice from heaven said, "This is my son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased." --MATTHEW 3:17
When I started this picture I had no idea that it was to be the baptism of Jesus. I received a vision of a man, standing waist deep in water. I knew it was a vision from the Lord so I started work on it.

The Beginning
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. --GENESIS 1:1-2
I was initially reluctant to use any bright colors in this work, until the Lord reminded me that He is Light. Where His presence is, there is also light. From that moment on the picture began to take shape.

The Believer's Journey
For a number of reasons, this picture has special place in my heart. First of all it is the result of the purest vision I've received to date. I received this vision at a church service. While prostrate on the floor soaking in the presence of the Lord, what you see here began to unfold before me.

The Light Of Men
As a prompting for this work, I was continuously drawn to the first chapter of John in scripture. In verse 4 and 5 it says: "In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it." These two verses in particular are the driving force behind this picture.

The Portal
This image came to me at night in a dream. It was very vivid and powerful, in fact it may have been a night vision. Upon awakening I was drawn to Psalm 10 and verses 14, 17 and 18 seemed to jump out at me. The artwork here depicts the faithfullness of God to hear the cries of the helpless. That he is ready and willing to act on the behalf of even just one individual - he sees and hears them from Heaven.

The Promise
This is a vision I received during a youth service at church. While on the floor in prayer, the Lord showed me this angel standing in a wheat field with water pouring out of his hands. I entitled it The Promise because I believe it speaks of provision from on high to the youth of this nation, who earnestly seek after God.

The Sword of the Spirit
The medium used for this painting is oil, unlike the majority of my work which is pastel. The painting of this picture was done in two stages. First the sky, then the angel. There was but one principal message on my heart while working on this image: the spiritual realm is real, and there is a battle being fought there.

The Touch
This image was inspired by the woman who believed that by just touching the hem of Jesus' garment she would be healed. Although driven by desperation, the woman's action that day was one of simple faith resulting in a powerful healing.

The Weight Of Glory
This kind of glory is tangible and very real. The Hebrew word Kabod means both weight and glory. Scripture is rich in references to the manifestations of God's Glory. It can be felt, it can be seen and many have experienced its weight.

The Whisper
This image was inspired by the poem "The Whisper" by Gary Wiens. It speaks to those quite, sublime times when the Lord speaks to us in His Still Small Voice. The print includes an excerpt from the poem. The entire poem is printed here, may it bless you as it has blessed me.

Waiting
There are times of waiting, and this image depicts the dynamics at work during those times. The overall tone is one of satisfaction in stillness, a blessed assurance, that the Lover of our soul is near - also waiting for us to come near.

Who Am I...
This is the famous burning bush scene, where God first speaks to Moses. The bush is not in this picture because it is not the focus of this work. The principal theme of this picture is a pleading with God.
