(A VISION FOR THE YOUTH) The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. --ISAIAH 58:11

This is a vision I received during a youth service at church. While on the floor in prayer, the Lord showed me this angel standing in a wheat field with water pouring out of his hands. I entitled it The Promise because I believe it speaks of provision from on high to the youth of this nation, who earnestly seek after God. I drew it in pencil only because that is how I saw it, in black and white. It was never the less a striking image, and I remember being filled with a sense of encouragement.

The Lord actually did a work in me also when it came to drawing this picture. Everything was falling into place quite easily, when I came to the sudden realization that I didn't really have a good grasp on what wheat actually looked like. After searching through many books and a trip to the town library, I started work on the wheat field. It was a tedious labor and painstakingly slow. I worked on the wheat for 2 weeks. About half way through, frustrated and impatient, I cried out "do I really have to draw and shade each and every kernel?!", the Lord's answer was simple, "Yes". At that point a peace came over me and my focus shifted from the whole work ahead of me, to the individual kernel I was working on. His overwhelming presence was with me throughout the remaining work on the wheat field. It was such a pleasure working on the wheat then, that I would have been content to draw acres.
